Thanks Freddie and Fannie Mac

Just when it looked like the markets wanted to stage a mini recovery….

"The shares started to erase early losses when word came that Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson was set to speak. He said that the government's primary focus is making sure that mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac remain as presently constituted to carry out their mission."

Suggests we're looking at another bailout of another financial institution. A bailout for failure. How about a bailout for shareholders who thought that Fannie and Freddie were "safe" bets.

Are We At Bottom Yet?

And you thought September was the worst trading month? Back in December, our sister site www.1source4stocks.com said welcome to the bear market.  If you have traded Exchange Traded Funds (ETF's), specifically DXD and DDM, you will have done well for yourself. The key is to watch the trend.

So, after watching the Dow hit official bear market status, are we heading up after hitting bottom.

Well, yes and no.

Yes, I think a near term bottom is being set. Dont go out and buy DDM tomorrow with the expectations of an immediate pop. Its going to take a bit. I'm thinking that the $14 drop from $72 to $58 will mean that DDM should bounce to $65, before testing $58-$60 again.  Give or take a dollar, play the trend, and you'll end up ahead.

Where Is Gold Going Next?

In the world of trading, gold is one of those special markets that seems to defy the laws of physics.

That all changed last week.

After skyrocketing to over 1,030 dollars an ounce, gold seemed to discover gravity, and plummeted over $125 in just a few days.

So, the question is, has the bubble in gold burst?

See how this question is addressed, and how to trade gold, in this short video. See if it makes sense to you.

Here's to your future success.

AAPL is ready to rock

Are you ready to take a bite out of Apple's secret weapon?

Apple has got to be one of my all-time favorite companies. I have used Apple computers for years and they never cease to amaze me at how easy they are to use and how well-designed they are.

But Apple's gone much further than ease of use and great design, they are now a fully fledged consumer company with their two breakthrough products, the iPod and the iPhone.

Both of these products have taken on a cult like status and are certainly icons for this generation.

I was recently in Washington D.C. for an appearance on CNBC that I ran into Walter Mossberg.  Now here's a guy who can have any tech toy he wants (Walter writes on technology for the Wall Street Journal and gets inundated with free tech stuff) and there he was talking on his iPhone. Now how cool is that? I might add that CNBC and the Wall Street Journal share offices in Washington.

Now, Walter is around my age and he's using the most advanced smart phone on the planet. I said to myself right there and then, that I just had to get me one of these cool phones.

Now here's the challenge, once you check out the iPhone you will want one too! I know all my kids want one, now that they have tried out my iPhone.

We expect that Apple under the visionary leadership of Steve Jobs will grow dramatically in the future. We expect that Apple will become better known for its consumer products than for the computers it first started out with.

I just finished a short movie on Apple that explains the recent slide, and why we think the market may be getting ready for another big move.

March 25th: 10am

The high of the day for DXD was $54.70 at 10am. We're in at $54.80 for 1000 shares.

March 25th: 3:50pm

Unfortunately, the trade isnt working out the way we had hoped.  Although there was a small bounce recently, its not working out as planned, and as per our trading plan, we're selling for a small loss of $500 and registering a loss for the first time in 5 sessions.

No plan is perfect! But, 80% winners works for me!

March 24: 3:30pm

Closing out the DDM position at $75.34 - good enough for an $800 profit. The strategy has worked 4 out of the last 4 trading days.

March 24: 10am

Looking at my charts… DDM @$74.50 - if it breaks that, we're in for 1000 shares… DXD has a high of $55.64.

10am Strategy Day 3

This morning at 10am, DDM's high of the day was at $70.75. It broke the high of the day just after that. Its now sitting at $72.29 or about $1.50 higher than it was this morning.

DXD's high of the day on the other hand, was $58.86 at 10am. It never surpassed that mark.

Chalk up another win for the 10am Strategy.
